Time to vote for who you drool over most in Round 1 of Hottie Madness 2014! Up next, the Drool bracket. Don’t forget, there is still time to vote in the Swoon and Crush brackets! I don’t want to sway votes, but I shared a few thoughts on each matchup, and I tried to choose photos that were similar to each to put the hotties on a more level playing field. Somehow all the music show judges ended up in this bracket. You can click on the names/links for the full post and cast your vote in each box below the photos. Click here for more details and to download the bracket. Voting for this bracket ends Sunday, March 23rd.
And don’t forget to tag any social posts with #HottieMadness2014!
(1) Henry Cavill vs (16) Alan Ritchson
I think Henry is the hottest guy on the planet. Seriously. So hot. I can’t stop looking at him. But when I put these pics side by side, Alan kinda gives him a run for his money. Kinda…

Time to vote for your biggest crushes in Round 1 of Hottie Madness 2014! Up next, the Crush bracket. I don’t want to sway votes, but I shared a few thoughts on each matchup, and I tried to choose photos that were similar to each to put the hotties on a more level playing field. Of all the brackets, this one might have the most random matchups. You can click on the names/links for the full post and cast your vote in each box below the photos. (1) Justin Timberlake vs (16) Chiwetel Ejiofor
JT has become a bit of a renaissance man, and one of the best SNL hosts/Jimmy Fallon guests ever, but to me he will always be known as the man who brought sexy back. And Chiwetel has made quite a name for himself this year, with his Oscar nom for 12 Years A Slave. I wouldn’t mind seeing more of his face. Just saying…

Time to vote for your most swoon-worthy hotties in Round 1 of Hottie Madness 2014! First up, the Swoon bracket. I don’t want to sway votes, but I shared a few thoughts on each matchup, and I tried to choose photos that were similar to each to put the hotties on a more level playing field. I also did my best to choose recent photos of each hottie. Gotta keep things real. You can click on the names/links for the full post and cast your vote in each box below the photos. (1) Charlie Hunnam vs (16) Jim Parsons
Charlie’s post was the most shared of all the hotties this year, and I’m sure that had a little something to do with his winning, and then ditching, the role of Christian in the 50 Shades movie. But, he’s still super hot, and as much as I liked him for Christian, I think Jamie was a good pick. (He’s in the Drool bracket.) His competition is one of my fave nerds on TV,
Sheldon Cooper Jim Parsons. I seriously love Jim, and it seems like everyone else does, too, with his three Emmy wins. And you know, nerdy sexy is just as hot as sexy sexy.

Colleen Hoover is my number one favorite author, and I have read and have loved each and every one of her books. And Maybe Someday, which released today, is no exception. It was an amazing book and, something that seems difficult these days, it was unique. It’s not the usual boy-saves-girl or girl-saves-boy story because they both save each other.
Compared to my other reviews, I am keeping this review quite short and simple. That’s because I’ve been working on something special for all of you! Colleen Hoover was gracious enough to work with us, and through her I’ve been talking to our leading man, Ridge, for an exclusive interview for Girly Obsessions readers. But first, let’s take a look at the official synopsis of Maybe Someday:
At twenty-two years old, aspiring musician Sydney Blake has a great life: She’s in college, working a steady job, in love with her wonderful boyfriend, Hunter, and rooming with her good friend, Tori. But everything changes when she discovers Hunter cheating on her with Tori—and she is left trying to decide what to do next.
Sydney becomes captivated by her mysterious neighbor, Ridge Lawson. She can’t take her eyes off him or stop listening to the daily guitar playing he does out on his balcony. She can feel the harmony and vibrations in his music. And there’s something about Sydney that Ridge can’t ignore, either: He seems to have finally found his muse. When their inevitable encounter happens, they soon find themselves needing each other in more ways than one…

It’s officially hottie season! I’m thrilled to announce Hottie Madness 2014! Voting for the third annual tournament of hotties starts tomorrow, March 18th. Last year was a huge success, with over 13,000 votes cast in the final round alone, resulting in a victorious David Gandy. And let’s not forget the original hottie, Ryan Gosling, who was the winner in 2012. Who do think will be this year’s Official Hottie?
If you’re new to the tournament, Hottie Madness is modeled after the NCAA March Madness tourney, but this bracket is way more fun to fill out! 64 hotties. Sorted and seeded. And ready to be judged by you over the next four weeks.
Here’s how it works. I made a list of all the men featured in Eye Candy posts this year. I was actually short by about six hotties, so I augmented with some of People’s Sexiest Men Alive. The hotties were divided into four brackets using random.org, and then seeded by the amount of shares on their posts (and a little bit of personal opinion). This year, the bracket names are based on the four words I think I use way too often: Swoon, Crush, Drool and Lust.

Hi everyone! I wanted to introduce the newest contributor to Girly Obsessions – Gwen Lewis. Gwen is a freelance writer who lives in Southern California. She has been in the beauty and fashion industry for quite some time and loves to write on the subject. In her free time she likes to stay active and has just taken on surfing.
I am obsessed with hair removal and if you’re anything like me, you long for fuzz-free, smooth and glowing skin. The problem with a lot of hair removal techniques is that they can often leave the skin irritated, red and swollen. This simply will not do! I’ve outlined some of my best tips when it comes to baring it all, from perfectly groomed brows to smooth legs!
I am obsessed with a clean-looking face, and am a big believer that perfectly groomed brows and a hairless top lip are the absolute foundations to looking as polished as possible. Think of your brows as a frame for your face. They can open up your eyes and create the youthful look we all obsess over.
If you have thick brows, waxing is an excellent, long-lasting solution. Stay away from waxing if you have thin, fine brows, they’ll do better with a more concise method of hair removal such as tweezing. Make sure your face is clean and bare of any oils before waxing, and if you are prone to redness, apply aloe vera or a soothing lotion afterwards. Run an ice-cube over the area you’ll be waxing for a few minutes before to numb the area.
When it comes to tweezing, a sharp pair of tweezers is key. For thick brows, opt for a slanted pair to grasp even the most stubborn hairs. For finer hair, a sharper pair with a pointed edge will help you snag the tiniest, lightest hairs. Use a magnifying mirror in a well-lit area to help you get every last stray hair! I am obsessed with Tweezerman tweezers. Not only do they carry a wide variety of tweezers to suit all types of hair, they also come with a warranty – so that you can send them back to be sharpened.

I’m so obsessed with all the spring dresses at Anthropologie. Like I need all of them in my life. And for a store that I normally consider to be overpriced, most of these are surprisingly affordable. My biggest crush is on the first dress. Loving the bold ikat, the maxi length, the fitted waist. All of it. What’s your fave of the group?

So this post was supposed to happen back in November, when Adam Levine was named People’s Sexiest Man Alive, but he got trumped by the Hunger Games Hotties. And since Hottie Madness is only a week away, I wanted to get this post done in time for Adam to be eligible. (But, who am I kidding. With 64 spots to fill and I think only 50-some hotties featured this year, I’ll be filling in the blanks with some random hotties. I just wanted an excuse to look at pics of Adam’s tats.)
The thing about Adam is that he’s hot. And he knows it. He’s confident. Sexy. A bit cocky. A bit of a manwhore (well, in the past). A bit naked all the time. But I guess I would be too with a bod like that! He could easily veer into douchebag territory, but he’s also a self-proclaimed “mama’s boy,” raised with manners. He’s an incredibly talented musician with a sexy as hell voice. And body. And tattoos. A true rock star, which seems to be a bit of a dying breed.

I finally got around to purchasing the Ladurée Sucré (The Sweet Recipes) cookbook a few weeks ago. I’ve wanted it for I don’t know how long, and now that I have it, I want to bake everything in it. And by everything, I mean EVERYTHING. Like, I’m feeling my own Julie & Julia moment about to happen. Of course, I didn’t have half of the ingredients I needed for the first recipe I chose to bake, which included a lot of rose-flavored things, so I have yet to actually try anything from this book. I did, however, take the first step by making my own rose simple syrup, which is a staple in many of the recipes. (Along with rose essential oil which is unexpectedly expensive, but decidedly more expensive to try to make than purchase.)
This rose simple syrup is so incredibly, well, simple, that I thought I’d share the recipe. Especially since it can have a lot of other uses, like a sweetener for tea. It would be fabulous served over vanilla ice cream. Or, even more fabulous, splashed in a glass of prosecco! And I bought these insanely photogenic roses that were just too pretty not to share. With the frigid winter we’ve been having in the Northeast, it’s nice to see, and taste, something that reminds me of Spring.

The Oscar’s have come and gone. Let’s break down the best and the worst. And the red carpet.
The Best: Everything Ellen did. Her monologue. The most-tweeted selfie ever (over 2.5 million so far). The pizza. The Glinda gown. I loved her joke to Jonah Hill about his full-frontal scene in TWOWS: “You showed us something in that film that I have not seen for a very, very long time.” Cate Blanchett telling Julia Roberts to “hashtag, suck it.” Jared Leto joking that he is in fact dating June Squibb. Great musical performances. Pharrell got the audience dancing. Pink nailed one of my all-time faves, Somewhere Over the Rainbow. Idina killed it.
The Worst: Speaking if Idina, I was so embarrassed for John Travolta when he butchered her name. I’ve also decided I’m boycotting until Leo wins. I just watched Dallas Buyers Club over the weekend and I thought there were stronger performances than Matthew’s. (But the “alright, alright, alright” in his acceptance speech kind of won me over.) Margot Robbie was almost unrecognizable with her new brown hair. Jennifer tripped. Again. But at least she’s the classiest klutz ever. And of course, it was good material for Ellen’s monologue. Also, the winners were totally predictable, so that was kind of boring.
The Red Carpet:
1. Beautiful Blues
Blue was the color of the night, ranging from Lupita’s custom pale blue Prada (which she chose because ”it’s a blue that reminds me of Nairobi, so I wanted to have a little bit of home”) to Amy and Sandra’s sapphire blue stunners. My vote for best-dressed goes to Lupita, but I’m thinking Amy should always wear that color. It looks great with her hair! And can we talk about those pink earrings?? NEED! Blue also made an appearance in Liza Minelli’s hair, which I kind of love on her, and as accents on Kellan Lutz’s tux. Also love.
