I can’t believe I’ve read enough erotic fiction for a third part to this post. In fact, I have read enough for a fourth. Thanks so much to everyone who’s left comments and recommendations, please keep them coming! One of my readers was even kind enough to send me a book she though I HAD to read (thanks, Trish!).
I’m also excited to be given the opportunity to interview Sylvia Day for a second time later this month. Feel free to send me any questions you’d like me to ask her and I’ll try to get them answered! Because of the interview, Penguin has sent me three copies of Reflected in You to give away to readers of this blog! Simply enter using the Rafflecopter widget below, or by clicking here. Good luck!
[ Sorry, this contest has ended. ]
Don’t forget to check out Part 1, Part 2 and Part 4 of this list! Ok, back to the books.
Reflected in You by Sylvia Day
It felt like an eternity waiting for this book after finishing Bared to You. Sylvia kept posting teasers on her Facebook page which just made me more excited, and I’m happy to report that it was worth the wait! The story picks up where Bared left off. Gideon woke up ready to conquer the world, and liked to start that domination with me. Gideon takes his domination to new, totally unexpected levels. And he can kick some ass. I don’t want to give away spoilers, but I really loved the twist in this plot, even though it meant some painful moments for Eva and Gideon. And some extremely hot moments. (Think sex on the beach, in a shower, at a concert, in a limo, at 35,000 feet.) If you expect Gideon and Eva to work out their issues, don’t. Their relationship is a total emotional roller coaster. They have to work on their trust issues, their insecurities, their communication, all while facing demons from their past. But they are addicted to each other, obsessed with each other in a way only they can understand. Luckily we only have to wait until December for the final book in the Crossfire trilogy, Entwined With You. For now, I’ll leave you with this: I‘m obsessed with you, angel. Addicted to you. You’re everything I’ve ever wanted or needed, everything I’ve ever dreamed of. You’re everything. I live and breathe you. For you.
Backstage Pass and Rock Hard by Olivia Cunning
If I were to write erotic fiction, this is the story I’d tell. Olivia Cunning has been said to travel over a thousand miles to see her favorite band, and I will be doing the same, so I can totally relate! As I’ve said before, I would be a professional Green Day groupie if given the chance…The Sinners are a successful, seriously hot rock band and each book tells the story of one the band members. Backstage Pass is about Brian Sinclair, the talented, sexy lead guitarist. Myrna Evans is a human sexuality professor and a huge fan of The Sinners, so when she randomly meets them, she is only looking to live out her fantasy of a one-night stand. But Brian finds a muse in Myrna which leads to an unexpected, complicated romance filled with a lot of passionate sex and some kinky experimentation. They make good music together! Rock Hard tells the story of Sed Lionhart (with a name like that, you have to be a rock star, right?), the Sinner’s bad-boy lead singer who constantly puts his foot in his mouth. I wasn’t sure I’d like his story because he’s a total ass in Backstage Pass. But as we learn in Rock Hard, he’s just dealing with the emotions of losing the love of his life, Jessica. She left him to follow her dreams, but runs into him again while working as a stripper to pay for law school. They haven’t lost their spark or their sexual connection, which leads to a lot of emotional, sometimes spontaneous, sex. (Including some rooftop shenanigans that results in a scandalous online video…oops.) OK, so I guess he’s an ass with a heart of gold. The third book in The Sinners on Tour series, Double Time, follows Trey’s story and will be released next month.
Untouchable, Unforgivable, Untraceable by Lindsay Delagair
Picking a boyfriend can be murder, but for Annalisa Winslett, it might end up being the literal death of her. This series is full of suspense, action, serious plot twists, and an unthinkable romance. Just FYI, the books are more Young Adult and less erotic fiction, and they do have some religious undertones. The Untouchable series follows the story of Annalisa, a 17 year-old from a wealthy family who has to go into hiding and start a new life for fear that someone is trying to kill her family. At her new school, Leese meets Evan who she is instantly attracted to, only to learn that his real name is Micah, a hottie from a family of mobsters, and he was sent to kill her. And if he doesn’t get the job done in the next six weeks, someone else will. So they spend their time together trying to figure out who’s hired Micah to do this job, and in the meantime, they fall in love with each other. Sorry, can’t say much else without giving away the plot, but I was hooked enough to read all three in a weekend!
On Dublin Street by Samantha Young
This is the book that was gifted to me, and I’m SO glad it was! I had never heard of it, but Trish assured me I’d love it. This is how she sold it: Forget about Christian Grey because there is a new guy in town and his name is Braden Carmichael. This book is the perfect package of hot alpha male, humor, witty banter, a bit of angst, romance and hot sex. Well, OK. Sold! Jocelyn Butler moves to Edinburgh to start a new life. While she comes across as confident, she really just shuts off her emotions and tries to ignore the tragic past she left behind. She meets Braden Carmichael randomly while sharing a taxi, and is completely smitten, only to find out later that he is her roommate Ellie’s hot older brother. They are both equally complex, and while they have an immediate, undeniable connection, they have to sort out their issues and build trust to try to understand their feelings for each other. They go from friends, to friends with benefits, to full on hot, steamy romance. Gotta love a guy that takes charge in the bedroom but then likes to cuddle! (Oh, and since it takes place in Scotland, it’s nice to imagine Ewan McGregor narrating Braden’s parts!)
If I Were You by Lisa Renee Jones
I really appreciate Lisa sending me a copy of this book! It is part one of the Inside Out trilogy and is being marketed as 50 Shades meets Basic Instinct. And instead of one dominant male, we have two, but otherwise the stories are completely different. Sara is a school teacher with a passion for art, and she comes across erotic journals left in an abandoned storage unit. The journal entries take a dangerous turn and Sara becomes obsessed with finding their owner Rebecca, concerned for her safety. The search leads to a job at a prestigious art gallery where she finds herself wrapped up with two very controlling, very powerful, very attractive men: arrogant and intense gallery owner Mark, and talented and successful painter Chris. And just as you realize Sara’s life is heading down the same path as Rebecca’s, it ends, and we’re left with a total cliffhanger for Part 2: Being Me. Can’t wait!
Sorry this post is so long! I also need to remind myself to write these recaps immediately after reading, and not after reading all seven when I start confusing the story lines! I also feel like I keep repeating myself. If I had known I’d be writing three or four of these posts, I would have invested in an erotic thesaurus! I have a few books lined up for Part 4, but any other recommendations?? And if you’ve read any of these, let me know your thoughts!

The Dark duet……simply amazing! The fact that it’s only a duet broke my heart. I often find myself wondering about Caleb and Livvie and feel robbed that my relationship with them ended so quickly. These books captured my emotions and sent them on an endless rollercoaster. Only second on my list of personal faves…..after 50 shades….of course!

I’m so happy to have found your blog! I was going though major 50 shades withdrawal and since I have found your excellent reviews, I have read the Crossfire series (now anxiously awaiting Entwined), and just finished On Dublin Street. Every time I read one, I say to myself “That was my favorite!”. I haven’t been into reading for over 10 years, but lately it feels so great to get lost in a story that is extremely hard to put down. Keep up the good work!
