What’s weird is that with the amount of TV I watch, there is nothing that I watch on Friday. Friday nights are usually reserved for unwinding with a glass of wine on the couch and catching up on TV from the week, and on a good night, I’ll actually manage to stay up past 9.
But there is a new show that could break the Friday night dry spell: Made in Jersey. From what I can tell, it’s 70 percent Legally Blonde (LOVE), 20 percent My Cousin Vinny (YES!), eight percent Working Girl (OK) and like 2 percent The Real Housewives of New Jersey (Eh). But, it’s the 70 percent Legally Blonde that has me adding it to my DVR!
Martina Garetti (played by Janet Montgomery, a Brit with a Jersey accent) is an ambitious, street smart, working-class lawyer, who snags a position at a prestigious Manhattan law firm. She seems to have more in common with her clients than her co-workers. She’s all big hair, stiletto’s and red lips. A stark contrast to her sleek, uptight, black-suited colleagues. It seems as though she’ll be solving crimes Elle-Woods-style, like based on perms, endorphins, liposuction and gay pool boys. Kyle MacLachlan (of Sex & the City fame) also stars as firm founder Donovan Stark, who is intrigued by Marina’s accent. And her insights.
Now…“Imagine you’re a deer. You’re prancing along, you get thirsty, you spot a little brook, you put your little deer lips down to the cool clear water… BAM! A f***ing bullet rips off part of your head! Your brains are laying on the ground in little bloody pieces! Now I ask ya. Would you give a f**k what kind of pants the son of a bitch who shot you was wearing?” Sorry, had to throw that in there. So, anyone else looking forward to this one?
