We’ve recapped the fashion trends Hollywood’s biggest nights, and now its time to recap fashion’s big night out: the Met Gala. The Metropolitan Museum of Art’s 2012 Costume Institute Gala was the place to be in New York City last night for A-list celebs from movies, music and fashion. There was a lot of vibrant color, plunging necklines and feathers, but I do kind of wish there was more neon. If you’ve seen the red carpet pics, what was your favorite look or trend? Here are some of ours:
1. Tangerine Tango
Kristen Bell in Tommy Hilfiger
Katherine McPhee in Elie Saab
Ginnifer Goodwin in Monique Lhuillier
Clearly orange is the color of the year. Nice job, Pantone.
2. Poofy skirts and purple feathers. And best post-pregnancy booty.
Diane Kruger in Prada
Scarlett Johansson in Dolce & Gabbana
Beyoncé in Givenchy Haute Couture
I think ScarJo makes monotone look stunning and Diane Kruger always makes a statement, and this is no exception. I kind of love it. But Beyoncé seemed to have stolen the night (she was the first pic I saw on every site I visited) with her feathery, bootylicious, see-through number.
3. Best lace and leg combos.
Marion Cotillard in Dior Haute Couture
Heidi Klum in Escada
Rooney Mara in Givenchy Haute Couture
Obsessing over the purple and sparkly gradient of Marion Cotillard’s dress. She is so beautiful and Heidi always looks great. Way to show off those legs, ladies!
4. Juicy pops of color.
Julianne Hough in Carolina Herrera
Emma Roberts in Escada
January Jones in Versace
Coco Rocha in Givenchy
I love all the bright pops of color that weren’t tangerine tango. And I love that if you’re Coco Rocha, you combine them all into one outfit. Including fabulous pink hair.
5. Best use of metallic gold.
Jessica Alba in Michael Kors
Nina Dobrev in Donna Karan
Carey Mulligan in Prada
Michelle Dockery in Ralph Lauren Collection
There was a lot of gold happening, from liquid gold dresses to gold accents to jumbo gold sequins, which Carey Mulligan totally rocked. I think she was my fave of the night! Nina looks stunning, and I have a serious girl crush on Michelle Dockery. Had to include her.
6. Black. Texture. Long sleeves. More feathers.
Rihanna in Tom Ford
Rosie Huntington-Whiteley in Burberry
Cate Blanchett in Alexander McQueen
It’s rare to see Rihanna so covered up, but she’s looking super sexy in snake and sleeves. (How’s that alliteration?) I adore the simple metallic stripes in Rosie’s dress, and I always love Cate Blanchett, so she had to make the list!
7. Cutest couples.
Jessica Biel and Justin Timberlake
Emily Blunt and John Krasinski
I’m not a huge Jessica Biel fan, but way to show off that rock! Good job, JT! And seriously, could Emily Blunt and John Krasinski be more adorable??

Thank you for including Michelle Dockery. She looks so classy…..proving you don't have to expose it all to be stunning.

I also love Michelle’s look! She is so classy! And Emily, I kind of agree with you. When I said she stole the night, it was because she was the first photo I saw on all the sites. But I have to give her props for exposing her post-baby body. At least she seems proud of it!

Haha yes she was gracing the front page of every single website talking about the gala! I definitely agree that she should get props for exposing her post-baby body – she looks great there! I just wish she was showing it off with a different dress :X haha

I don't really have a FAVE yet because I like so many (the girls in tangerine and metallic all look fab) but I have to disagree with Beyonce. I think she looked ridiculous. Too much, too ridiculous. Personally, definitely not a fan of that look.

I'm absolutely loving the bright orange trend and all the lace. There was a dress I saw, a lace back and red combo, but I can't remember who wore it! It was gorgeous.

I'm usually not a color person, but I'm loving all the "brights" this season…so beautiful! January Jones looks exquisite in that Versace number!
